I love images of school pictures , thus the focal point. Had to use the original image here, as it did not copy well. Also used vintage buttons, fabric, lace and tintype. See project in Altered ! Art Projects book, just out 2008.
A cod fish box was used to make a 'sea' related theme. See this in the new book, Altered! Art Projects, 2008.
Courtesy of Altered Arts magazine. This was featured on the cover of the magazine and the three books flip down to reveal vintage spreads.
Courtesy of Altered Arts magazine. This is made from a music roll container. Item SOLD.
Courtesy of Altered Arts magazine. This puzzle of blocks has another image on the reverse and simple words stamped on to the sides of the blocks. They were cut to perfectly fit within a small vintage cigar box. See how to make this in the new Altered! Art Projects book, 2008.
This three dimensional piece pokes fun at the feminine style of clothing that boys were forced to wear in the 19th century. The red shoes are rubber doll slippers.
An old laced shoe is the focus of this assemblage. Wooden type letters spell out "A Shoe Full" and a large antique funnel is filled with vintage children. Others are climbing down red yarn and some are sitting on the words. Strips of old fabric with stars as a design are fastened to the red base. Oil crayons, acrylics and ink pads were used to age the items and a wooden tube supports the shoe. SOLD
The center box is for a project at Artiscape. The imploding area houses a figure of Leonardo Da Vinci (Mona's muse) and a small mirror, that when placed in the dark, reflects a glow. Mona's face was antiqued and molded to a knob, and fabric was attached with fabric stiffener. The folds are painted with gold paint. The hair is of brown fibers. SOLD as charity donation at Artiscape.
A Christmas ornament that was featured in Altered Arts magazine and I made a duplicate for my good friend and another as a gift in a Christmas exchange. I used multiple copies of vintage children images and colored with oil crayons and inks.
A doll I made imagining how it might feel to live on a farm in the 19th century as my grandmother. The accompanying journal tells about her life. It is entitled "Threads of Me."
Shadow box to honor my maternal grandfather, who was a Spanish American War veteran and streetcar conductor.
This gameboard was pictured in Somerset's Gallery IV magazine and won a transparency contest on the Artchix site. My favorite 'angel' vintage image is the focal point.
