I am proud to announce the opening of my new Ebay store, 'Simply Antique Country.' Although this is an antique store of sorts, I will occasionally add some of my artwork for-sale. I am trying this for a month, just to see if it is worth it! My seller name is 'loumedina'. http://stores.ebay.com/Simply-Antique-Country Thanks guys! ~Lou
Am pleased to be in the 2011 CPS calendar again!
It is available at Cloth, Paper, Scissors, the Interweave store.
One of my favorite assemblage artists gave a local workshop on creating a cigar box assemblage. Michael DeMeng is a wonderful and fun instructor who has mastered painting techniques to achieve that aged -look I sooo love. He also encouraged layering to achieve dimension. My 'Rogue' piece had a clown theme, with metal box, bottle cap, mica chip and lots of ephemera.
Check out his new book, 'Dusty Diablos', for techniques. ~Lou

I had to complete a big project last week and get it in the mail last Friday, so now I am just doing art I want to do for awhile. I usually take summers off, as I am a sun lover. I made this pastel sketch yesterday and call it, "Summer Heat." It is done on acrylic 200+lb. paper, which I have decided I really don't like that much. I prefer 300lb. watercolor paper (cold press) as it does not have such a textured surface. I actually used watercolor crayons for most of this, and obviously can't get my watercolor background out of my system! Next project will be pure watercolor, I think.
On another note, please send prayers to our little town of Medina for some terrible car accidents yesterday- two seperate losses of teens and not their fault. Grandparents witnessed lose of two grandkids- can't imagine. ~Lou
Last weekend I had a wonderful time at Artiscape in Columbus, Ohio. I saw old friends and made a few new ones, as well as took two fabulous classes, "Crossings" by Sharon Andrews and "Empty Nest Bracelet" by Corey Celaya. I highly recommend them both as patient and great instructors. I had a lot of help from my friend Darlene Rolls on the bracelet- my hands just don't work well on the intricate findings. But I did put a photo of my Mom in it, so it is dear to me. I also felt a special affinity towards Corey- I hope she will make something to sooth her heart with the bead I gave her (it looks like a bird in flight.) The cross was made with rebar- certainly my nemesis to work with, but loved the class. The small, rusty tile is just something I painted recently. ~Lou
Happy Spring and Easter to you all! We will be spending Easter with our entire McCulloch family at our oldest son's house. And I only have to bring rolls and stuffing!
This piece is an automatic painting/drawing I did yesterday. I call it ,"The Dream Rose"(8.5x11.) I call it automatic because I really didn't think about it when I started, just painted blobs of sepia and white, then found shapes in it with colored pencils and paints. I also layered a few old book pages of German text. It's fun and relaxing. ~Lou
Pleased to have my little studio nook in the new Spring issue of "Studios' magazine (pages 108-09).
