I am trying to keep up my spirits with this unending winter! Hard to get out, as our street seems to be the last (or not at all) street to plow. Medina is suppose to be out of the lake affect snow belt, but not this year. I have been mainly keeping my Ebay store going- at least people are buying. I will have to go on a major 'Picker' trip this spring- if it ever gets here. Have posted a few things I am playing around with. The tag is dimensional (purse) and the sand dollar is real and crumbles if you don't spray with a finish first. Man, I wish I was on a warm beach somewhere.
So glad to know Cece Grimes is on the mend! The Caring Bridge is such a great site to keep up on friends. Speaking of friends, I miss you all- AGO group, Divas and across the pond. I'm not sure if you can post to my Typepad anymore, as I had to downgrade. Would love to hear from you! ~Lou
Dear Cece Grimes, who I met at Art & Soul a few years back, is having serious surgery today. Please keep her in your thoughts or prayers. A truely beautiful soul and wonderful artist. Please see site under photo of Cece: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/cecegrimes/createorsignin
Thanks Karen, Joanne, Dianne and Jean for your comments!~Lou
I received some wonderful book gifts for Christmas, among them, "The Creative Edge" by Mary Todd Beam. There are nine artistic chapters in the, 'exercises to celebrate your creative self.' This is my attempt after the first exercise which involved using masking (clear shelf liner), penciling, gel, acrylics with linear and opaques.
This assemblage piece of mine is now listed on Ebay at my store, "Simply Antique Country." One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society in memory of my dear cousin Lynda Flora of Arizona. She was a wonderful person- inside and out.So cute- we liked a lot of the same things and she also was an RN. She had a lot of hardships to deal with in her short life, but her spirit will live on in her daughters Amy and Nancy and their children. Thanks, Lou

These are just some of the treasures I received in swaps and parties so far this year! I can't begin to tell you how much they all mean to me and the wonderful friends that made them. I will be cutting down on artwork this year and plan just to do small projects- no pressure with submissions, swaps and brilliant ideas that never come to fruition. But come next Christmas, I may give in! Love to All, Lou
I took a wonderful paper-technique class from Keith Lobue last weekend and made a few pieces. My 'Parade Watcher ' is almost finished. The opera glasses are old and from Paris! The blue ribbon hides another tin box with parade engravings inside.
Keith was part of the Small Studios workshops here in Ohio, that should continue through next year. Hooray for Ginny!~Lou
What have I been doing lately? Playing with blocks and goofing off. My muse comes in a once weekly spurt and is threatening to go away completely. I just become easily distracted! On another note, my Ebay store is doing fairly well, so will continue it through the year, at least. I will list the little matchbox in this photo today (to the left), which contains small antique blocks. The other is a block I made out of old photographs. I t contains a gift for a friend of mine! http://stores.ebay.com/Simply-Antique-Country Please check out my Ebay store. Thanks! ~Lou
I'm a mixed media artist with a passion for history and old things.
